KAI NOA EDGAR

Kai Noa Edgar is an ocean and surf photographer based on the North Shore of Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi. His work is centered on the Pacific and the temporary structures created by moving water — the hollow interior of a breaking wave, light passing through a collapsing lip, underwater turbulence and the immense physical scale of open ocean.

Working from within the water as well as from shore, Edgar approaches the ocean not as scenery, but as the primary subject of the photograph.

His archive moves between ocean photography, surf, underwater imagery and fine-art studies of water, light, motion and scale.
